There come times in a man’s life
when pause is required to reflect on milestones. High school, college, marriage… you can start or stop wherever you want, these punctuated moments of “whoa,” like buying a lawnmower for the first time, saying “I do,” paying property tax, include, for me, the first major upgrade to my gear.
Referring to this as an upgrade might be misleading. This feels like getting an electric guitar and amp for the first time. As though I haven’t even HAD gear yet… what an amazing sound and feel.
After buying a cheapo Stat knockoff three months ago, putting the damn thing down has been hard. I play it unplugged on the couch while Idoia watches TV. It’s never more than six feet away from me. I dream about it. I haven’t felt my left hand’s fingertips in three months. I’ve started
meeting musicians, and thinking of jamming with a drummer and bass, and song melodies and stupid lyrics… yes, a total nutcase.
So today, I got a bitchin’ deal on a Fender American Deluxe HSS LT and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe tube amp.
